How We’ll Work

What’s happened to you?

We’ll focus on relationship problems and trauma.

Whether with individuals, couples, or families, we concentrate on what’s happened to you versus what’s wrong with you.

We’ll help you take charge, build, and maintain your own wellness in eight areas, not solely mental wellness.

We’ll work with structure and purpose.

We’ll start with a free consultation, either over the phone or face-to-face.

Our next step involves an in-depth assessment and treatment plan, followed by recommendations about how to proceed. This step really needs to be face-to-face.

Then, we’ll start actual therapy.

In your first two – three sessions, we’ll focus on emotional self-regulation and stress management.

You’ll learn about each of the following areas:

  • Common reactions
  • Mindfulness and body awareness
  • Emotional and energy awareness as well as boundaries
  • Emotional vulnerability
  • Grief
  • Communication and communication problems
  • Overall wellness

We’ll establish basic safety for you and a stable foundation for further growth. It’s your therapy but we set the pace. We won’t use things like EMDR or TRE if we don’t think you’re ready or don’t think it’s safe, even if you ask for them.

While we’re working…

We try to keep therapy fun and light-hearted, focusing more on strengths than weaknesses or problems.

However, we’re probably not a good choice if you’re looking for nothing more than pleasant conversations or venting sessions.

We can be pushy and blunt at times, but we do it to help you improve.

Therapy is work, and we will hold you accountable.

While you’re on your own…

we strongly encourage you to treat your body, too.

Engage in some form of regular body work (TRE, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, massage therapy, etc.).

Regular exercise! We all need it!

Improve your diet and nutrition.

Socialize with family and friends.

Engage in hobbies or recreational activities.

Have some fun!
